Wabash outscored Wilmington 18-6 after the host Quakers took a 1-0 lead in Wednesday's lacrosse game in Ohio for an 18-7 win to push the Little Giants' record to 2-1 on the season.

Wabash held the host Quakers (0-2) to two goals in the second half, including a shutout in the fourth period despite 13 shot attempts by Wilmington in the final 15 minutes of the game. The Little Giants limited Wilmington to just two goals in nine man-up situations, including shutouts in the Quakers' final two extra-man opportunities in the final period.

While Wilmington managed 13 tries in the fourth period, none were on goal as Wabash forced a season-high 18 turnovers in the contest.
Zach LaRue and
Evan Schiefelbein led the Little Giants with three caused turnovers each. The Wabash defense was credited with seven caused turnovers in the game with one for
Joe LaRue in addition to those by Schiefelbein and
Zach LaRue.

Wabash trailed 1-0 after Wilmington scored in the first two minutes of the game before
AJ Shaheen sparked a seven-goal first period.
Collin Brennan gave the Little Giants a 2-0 lead with a goal before Wilmington tied the score 18 seconds later.

That would be the closest the Quakers would get for the remainder of the contest. Wabash exploded for five consecutive goals on shots from
Steven Stark,
Tucker Dixon, and Shaheen. Dixon scored three goals in the opening period as part of a seven-goal night to tie the Wabash record for individual goals in a game held by Dixon and Brennan.

Wilmington closed the score 7-4 with back-to-back goals to open the second period before Shaheen struck again with his third goal of the contest. Dixon added another score in the second period and Joe Plencner answered a Wilmington goal with 2:46 left in the half to put Wabash up 10-5 at the midway point of the game.

The Quakers tallied an early goal in the third period by Connor Judge, who led Wilmington with three of its seven goals. Dixon answered to put Wabash in front 11-6. Judge tallied the final goal for the home team with 13:39 left in the third before the Little Giant defense clamped down on the Quakers for the remaining 28:21 of the match without allowing a goal. Max Atkins recorded seven saves overall while facing 14 shots on goal. Dixon, Brennan, and Schiefelbein all scored goals in the period before Brennan and Dixon tacked on two more goals in the fourth to secure the Little Giants' second consecutive win of the season.

Wabash finished 4-of-8 in extra-man opportunities. The Little Giants turned in their best effort of the season in the faceoff dot by going 16-of-27 for the game.
John Rodgers won 14-of-19 faceoffs overall in addition to scoring a goal in the contest.

Brennan and Dixon each handed out two assists, while Stark had one assist in the game.

The Little Giants will play two games in Alabama next week during the Wabash spring break, beginning with a 6 p.m. (CST) contest at Huntingdon College on Tuesday in Montgomery, Alabama.
