Roginski Leads Wabash To 6-4 Win Over Gustavus Adolphus

Andrew Jumonville broke a 3-3 tie with an RBI double in the fifth inning and Sean Roginski added a two-run home run in the sixth to lift Wabash baseball to a 6-4 victory over Gustavus Adolphus College Wednesday evening in Tucson, Arizona.

Wabash (3-4) scored a run in the first inning when Jackson Blevins lifted a sacrifice fly to center to score Roginski after the junior opened the inning with a single. The Little Giants tacked on two more runs in the second when Roginski slammed a triple to bring home Jared Wolfe and Joe House for a 3-0 lead.

The Golden Gusties (2-3) tied the game at 3-3 with a run in the fourth and two in the fifth off starter Ryan Thomas, who pitched 4-1/3 innings of four-hit baseball. He gave up three runs (two earned) with two walks and five strikeouts. Erik Lakomek entered in relief of Thomas and retired two of the four batters he faced while allowing two hits to earn his first win of the season.

Wabash regained the lead in the bottom of the fifth when Blevins delivered a one-out single and came home with the eventual game-winning run on the RBI double by Jumonville. Roginski smashed his first home run of the season in the sixth to push the lead to 6-3. Roginski came up a double short of hitting for the cycle in a 3-for-4 performance at the plate with four RBI.

Gustavus Adolphus picked up a run in the seventh inning off Kevin O'Donnell, who allowed only one run on one hit with two walks. He struck out three. Parker Noll pitched a hitless sixth inning by retiring all three batters he faced.

Zack Moffett entered the game in the ninth inning and picked up his second save of the season by allowing one walk while facing four batters in the final frame to give Wabash the victory.

Roginski finished with three of the Little Giants' 11 hits. Jumonville also collected three hits, while Henry Wannemuehler and Blevins each finished with two hits. Matthew Annee recorded the final hit for Wabash.

The two teams will meet again to close out the Arizona spring break trip for Wabash in a doubleheader on Friday afternoon beginning at 9 a.m. (MST) at the Kino Sports Complex in Tucscon.
