Wabash held Wittenberg scoreless through the first seven innings of Wednesday's second game of the baseball doubleheader between the two North Coast Athletic Conference schools before the host Tigers scored six runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to defeat the Little Giants 6-1. Wabash lost the opener of the twin bill 15-3 to drop both games.

Wabash (10-10, 0-3 NCAC) led the second game 1-0 after plating a run in the fourth inning on an RBI single by
Jared Wolfe to score
Matthew Annee from second. The Little Giants made the run hold up until the eighth when Wittenberg (10-8, 2-2 NCAC) tagged reliever
Kevin O'Donnell with five runs on four hits. O'Donnell surrendered two runs in the inning to take the loss before giving way to reliever
Zach Moffett who surrendered a three-run home run.
Tyler Dearing pitched six strong innings in the start, holding the Tigers scoreless on five hits with five walks. He struck out four batters.

Wolfe collected two of the Little Giants' five hits in game two. Annee,
Joe House, and
Andrew Jumonville each finished with one hit.

Wabash held a 1-0 lead early in the first game when
Jackson Blevins raced home from second base on a wild pitch. The Tigers tied the game in the bottom of the first, then jumped in front 5-1 in the third thanks to a pair of home runs. Wittenberg finished the game with four home runs in the contest, with Jack Hollinshead blasting three homers out the park --- one each in the first, third, and fourth innings.

The Little Giants managed just five hits in the first game, one each for
Sean Roginski,
Erich Lange,
Eric Chavez,
Henry Wannemuehler, and Blevins. Chavez and Blevins each drove in runs for Wabash in the game.

Dylan Scheid suffered the loss, pitching three innings of seven-hit baseball. He allowed five runs (four earned) with one walk and two strikeouts.
Parker Noll surrendered five runs on seven hits in 1-2/3 innings pitched. He finished with two walks and one strikeout.
Eric Lakomek pitched the final 1-1/3 innings, giving up five runs (three earned) on four hits.

Wabash will look to regroup with four games on the home schedule this coming weekend. The Little Giants play host to Kenyon College Saturday in a pair of NCAC games starting at noon at Goodrich Ballpark. Rose-Hulman will travel to Crawfordsville to play a doubleheader against the Little Giants starting at noon on Sunday.
