Wabash will face top-seed Wooster Thursday, May 9 in the opening game of the 2019 North Coast Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament at VA Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe, Ohio. First pitch for the opening game of the tourney is scheduled for 10 a.m.
Wabash (21-17, 9-8 NCAC) earned its place in the tournament field by virtue of its fourth-place finish in the final NCAC standings. Wooster (24-10, 13-3 NCAC) is the number one seed. Second-seeded Denison (34-6, 14-4 NCAC) and third-seeded Allegheny (21-15, 10-7 NCAC) will play in the second game on Thursday at 1 p.m.
The Little Giants won the 2018 tournament for the second time in school history after capturing the school's first title in 2011. Wabash and Wooster have met four times in the NCAC Tournament with the Little Giants owning a 3-1 advantage in those games. Wabash picked up a 7-3 win over the Scots in last year's second round of the tournament after the Little Giants defeated Denison 4-2 in the opening round. Wabash won the tournament championship 17-8 against Wooster and earned the school's second NCAA tournament berth. Wabash and Wooster met in the opening round of the NCAA regional in Adrian, Michigan and again in the championship game. The Scots came away with 4-2 victories in both of those contests.
The 2019 NCAC Tournament will play a condensed schedule to graduation conflicts on Saturday, May 11 and Sunday, May 12. Thursday's schedule will include both first-round games with winners from games one and two playing again at 4 p.m. The losing teams from games one and two will play an elimination game at 7 p.m. The winning team from Thursday's 7 p.m. contest and the losing team from the 4 p.m. game will play on Friday at 10 a.m. with the tournament championship game slated for 2 p.m. Friday. Should a final elimination game be required, that game would take place Friday at 5 p.m.
Tickets for the 2019 NCAA Championship are $7 for adults and $3 for students and children and are available at VA Memorial Stadium on game day. Each ticket is good for one day of admission at the tournament. Live video of each game of the tournament will be available at
