Wabash College has been accepted for membership in the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League (MCVL) beginning with the Little Giants' inaugural varsity men's volleyball season in 2020-21.
"The Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League is a welcome home for our new volleyball program, offering quality competition in close proximity to campus," Wabash Director of Athletics and Campus Wellness
Matt Tanney said. "We regularly compete against MCVL institutions in other sports, so familiarity with the respective athletics programs is an added bonus of our affiliate membership. We look forward to joining the MCVL in 2020-21 for our inaugural season with a group of talented Wabash scholar-athletes."
"We are proud to announce the granting of MCVL membership to Wabash College beginning in 2021," MCVL Commissioner Chuck Yrigoyen said. "I know how excited
Matt Tanney is about getting the program off the ground. The Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League has gone through several membership changes the last few years, but the league's strength has remained constant. Men's volleyball continues to have a consistent growth pattern in NCAA Division III, which is a great thing for our league and for the sport."
The MCVL was formed in 2014 and has a current membership of six NCAA Division III schools Â--- Adrian College, Fontbonne University, the University of Mount St. Joseph, the University of Mount Union, Olivet College, and Trine University. Fontbonne represented the MCVL in the 2019 NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Tournament and advanced to the quarterfinal round before losing to national runner-up UC-Santa Cruz.
