Wabash Wins 3-0 At Anderson

The Wabash offense exploded for three goals Tuesday evening in a 3-0 soccer victory at Anderson University. The win snapped a three-game streak without a goal by the Little Giants.

David Riggs put Wabash (4-3) on the scoreboard in the 18th minute with his first goal of the season off a pass from Coledon Johnson. That lead held until the 58th minute when Joseph Kaefer extended it to 2-0 with his first goal of the year. Alexis Delgado provided the assist.

Jesus Rodrigo Del Real joined the group of first-time goal scorers this season with his first collegiate goal off a header in the 89th minute of the match off a pass from Abdoulie Waggeh to provide the 3-0 final score.

"This was a good bounce-back win for us tonight," Wabash head coach Chris Keller said. "Anderson was a tough team to play on the road. We had to battle a wet field and tough conditions. We played well early and kept our substitutions going throughout the match. We really had good play from the entire team. A lot of guys were able to get on the field and executed when they were in the game. This was a much-needed win. We have to keep grinding with another tough road game on Saturday at Olivet."

Wabash pounded the goal with 24 total shot attempts and 11 shots on goal, led by Delgado with three shots on goal and four total attempts. Anderson (3-4) fired 12 total shots in the match. Wabash goalkeeper Chad Wunderlich recorded five saves to earn his third individual shutout of the season and fourth overall of the year for the team.

Wabash returns to action Saturday with a 2 p.m. contest at Olivet College.
