Kyle Holmer scored a pair of second-half goals for Wabash in Friday night's 3-0 victory over Grove City College in the second match of the Wilmington Kiwanis Soccer Classic in Wilmington, Ohio.
Cristian Aleman scored his first goal of the season to break the scoreless tie in the 63rd minute with a header off a corner kick by
Jesus Flores Daccarett. Twelve minutes later Holmer sent a loose ball in the box into the back of the net to push the advantage to 2-0.
Joseph Kaefer earned the assist on Holmer's first goal.
Holmer notched his second goal of the match and team-best third of the season in the 77th minute when he took an
Adam Berg pass inside the box for a point-blank shot and the 3-0 lead.
The Wabash defense held Grove City (0-2-1) without a shot attempt over the 90-minute match. Little Giant goalkeeper
Chad Wunderlich recorded his 14th career shutout and 20th career victory. He moved into third place on the Wabash all-time wins list for goalkeepers, passing David Sharp '89 with 19 career victories.
Wabash will play Adrian College Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. The Bulldogs defeated Wilmington College 1-0 in Friday's opening match of the Classic.
