Tyler Dearing have been honored by the North Coast Athletic Conference for their efforts in the Little Giants' 2020 opening baseball weekend. Blevins was named the NCAC Baseball Player of the Week. Dearing was selected as the NCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week.
Blevins batted .538 over three games to help Wabash to a 2-1 start to the season over the weekend. He collected a total of seven hits in 13 at bats including two doubles and two RBI. Blevins went 3-for-5 at the plate with two RBI and three runs scored in the Little Giants' 15-1 win Saturday over eighth-ranked Heidelberg University. He finished Sunday's opening game against Wisconsin-Stevens Point with a 4-for-5 performance to help Wabash to the 5-4 victory. Blevins collected one of only two hits by the Little Giants in a 6-0 loss Sunday afternoon to Baldwin Wallace when he lifted a shot to the base of the left center field fence that bounced over for a ground-rule double. He also drew one walk over the three games for a .571 on-base percentage.
Dearing earned the win in Saturday's game against Heidelberg by limiting the Student Princes to two hits and three walks over five innings on the mound. He struck out a career-best eight of the 19 batters he faced. Dearing recorded one strike out with runners at second and third with one out in the first innings. He retired the final batter of the first inning with a strikeout after Heidelberg loaded the bases with a walk.
Wabash opened the season with a pair of wins in its three-game series of games played at the Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield, Indiana.
