A blast from
Cristian Aleman with less than two minutes remaining in double overtime lifted Wabash to a 1-0 victory over Hiram in North Coast Athletic Conference soccer action Saturday at Fischer Field.

Wabash (8-2-1, 1-0-1 NCAC) and Hiram (2-6-2, 0-2-0 NCAC) played to a scoreless tie in regulation despite the host Little Giants firing 27 shot attempts with eight shots on goal. Wabash appeared to have the winning goal in regulation in the second half but an offside call waived off the shot attempt and kept the score tied at 0-0.

Wabash put two shots on goal in the first overtime period but was once again unable to score. Neither team put a shot on goal in the overtime period until Aleman collected the ball near midfield. The senior launched a shot toward the goal that ricocheted off the keeper's hands and into the net for the game-winning goal.

The Little Giants finished the match with 11 shots on goal and 33 total shot attempts. Hiram was limited to four total shots. Wabash goalkeepers
Andrew Dever and
Michael Bertram combined to make three saves. Dever recorded one save in 45 minutes of play in the first half. Bertram started the second half and made two saves over the final 63 minutes.
