Wabash saw a 17-point first-half lead evaporate in the second half in an 87-85 home loss to Oberlin College in North Coast Athletic Conference basketball played Saturday afternoon at Chadwick Court.

Wabash (4-3, 1-1 NCAC) came out out red-hot from start, scoring the first eight points of the game before eventually leading 36-19 with 8:03 left in the first half. Oberlin (3-4, 1-1 NCAC) kept cutting into the lead. The Yeomen used an 11-0 scoring run to get as close as two points at halftime with the score 43-41 in favor of Wabash.

The Little Giants maintained their advantage in the second half. A basket from
Tyler Watson with 15:24 remaining in the game built the cushion back up to 10 points at 55-45. Once again, the visiting Yeomen mounted a rally, outscoring Wabash 9-0 over the next two minutes to cut the lead to 55-54.

Wabash regained a five-point margin twice in the final 12 minutes of play before a three-point basket from Dorde Otasevic and free throws from Wolf Moser tied the game at 63-63. The two teams traded baskets before Oberlin put together a 4-0 run to jump in front 71-67.

The Little Giants tied the game at 80-80 with 2:46 remaining when
Jack Davidson canned a three-point jumper for two of his 17 points in the game. Once again Oberlin responded by scoring the next six points to take an 86-80 lead in the final 30 seconds of the game.
Ahmoni Jones scored a layup to cut the lead to four points, but Yuuki Okubo hit one of his two free-throw attempts in the closing seconds to push the Yeomen lead back to five points. A Davison three-pointer ahead of the buzzer created the two-point final swinging in favor of the visitors from Oberlin.

Wabash shot 50.8 percent overall from the field, going 32-of-63 overall. The Little Giants finished 10-of-29 from three-point range and shot an uncharacteristic 64.7 percent from the free-throw line (11-of-17). Wabash came into the game averaging  85.5 percent free-throw shooting for the season.

Oberlin finished 30-of-57 from the field for 52.6 percent and shot 50 percent (13-of-26) from three-point range. The Yeomen went 14-of-21 from the free-throw line.

Kellen Schreiber led the Little Giants with 22 points. Watson added 18 points and had six assists. Davidson recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. He also gave out three assists. Jones put four Wabash players into double-figure scoring by adding 13 points for the game.

Five Oberlin players scored in double figures, led by Moser and Aidan Oliver with 17 points apiece. Dimitrije Radusinovic scored 15 points. Otasevic and Darien Knowles each scored 13 points.

Wabash travels to Ohio Wesleyan University for a 7 p.m. conference game on Wednesday.
