Wabash jumped out to a 5-0 lead at Ohio Wesleyan and trailed only once early in the first half before dispatching the hosts in a dominating 86-58 North Coast Athletic Conference victory in Delaware, Ohio Wednesday evening.

Wabash (5-3, 2-1 NCAC) trailed the Battling Bishops (4-4, 1-2 NCAC) 9-7 before going on a 28-5 scoring run over the next eight minutes to move in front by 21 points at 35-14. Ohio Wesleyan drew as close as 14 points before the Little Giants pushed the advantage back to 19 at the half, 46-27.

OWU cut the lead 14 points twice more in the second half, but another big scoring blitz sparked by three-point baskets from
Jack Davidson and
Tyler Watson increased the lead back to 20 points with 14 minutes left to play. Wabash maintained the 20-plus point margin for the remainder of the game to claim its seventh consecutive victory over Ohio Wesleyan over the past four seasons.

Wabash played its best defensive game of the season, holding Ohio Wesleyan to 21-of-62 shooting for 33.9 percent, a season-low total by any Little Giant opponent this year. Wabash shot 33-of-67 from the field for 49.3 percent and connected on 13-of-30 shots from three-point range for 43.3 percent. The only shooting struggles came from the free-throw line. Wabash hit just 7-of-12 attempts from the charity stripe for a season-low 58.3 percent.

Davidson led the Little Giants in scoring with 22 points. He passed Wes Smith '11 and moved into fifth place on the Wabash all-time scoring list with 1,811 points. He also handed out eight assists and grabbed six rebounds. Watson added 19 points, giving him 979 points for his career.
Jesse Hall came off the bench to score 12 points and grab seven boards.
Kellen Schreiber chipped in 10 points.
Ahmoni Jones snared a game-high 11 rebounds for Wabash.

Henry Hinkle paced Ohio Wesleyan with 20 points. Grant Spicer added 12 points to the Battling Bishops' scoring totals.

Wabash continues its NCAC schedule with a home game Saturday against Wittenberg University at 2 p.m. The Tigers were the favorite to win the regular-season conference title according to the preseason coaches poll and enter Saturday's game with a 2-0 NCAC record after defeating DePauw 77-69 in Greencastle Wednesday night for their third straight victory of the season.
