The Wabash College swimming team took to the blocks for the first time in 2021 and for the first head-to-head meet of the entire season against another team in Class of 1950 Natatorium Friday evening. The Little Giants faced in-state rival Franklin College in dual meet action, falling to the visiting Grizzlies 173-121.

Jan Dziadek and
Wesley Slaughter both captured a pair of first-place finishes for Wabash. Dziadek won the 100 backstroke with a time of 53.70 before taking the top spot in the 100 butterfly by finishing in 52.79. Slaughter won back-to-back races for the Little Giants with victories in the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.63 followed by a winning time of 47.61 in the 100 free.

Justin Dusza placed second in the 100 backstroke behind Dziadek. Dusza finished the race in 54.71 before adding a second-place finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:59.59.

Glore scored a second-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle by finishing in 10:42.58.
Connor Baker added a second-place effort in the 200 free with a time of 1:47.88. Baker also placed second in the 500 free (4:56.90) with teammate
Daren Glore right behind in third place with a time of 5:08.94.

Isaac Temores scored a third-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke by touching in 1:02.23. He also placed third overall in the 200 breaststroke with a final time of 2:19.34.
Jacob Penrose finished the 200 butterfly in 2:14.10 to place third overall.
Caleb McCarty added a third-place finish in the 100 free at 49.10.
Will Melcher picked up a third-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly by completing the race in 57.09.

Wabash scored first-place finishes in both relay races. The Little Giant foursome of Dusza, Temores, Dziadek, and Slaughter won the 100 medley relay by finishing in 1:37.22. The quartet of Dziadek, Temores,
Gavin Hill, and Slaughter touched the wall first in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:28.40.
