The Wabash College volleyball team captured its first two wins in school history with a pair of five-set victories over Wittenberg University Saturday afternoon. The Little Giants' two road wins were also their first as members of the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League.

Wabash (2-2, 2-2 MCVL) trailed in the first match after losing the first set 25-21. The Little Giants rallied in the second set after falling behind early 7-5 to the Tigers (0-2, 0-2 MCVL). Wabash scored three consecutive points to move in front 8-5 only to see Wittenberg regain its lead by a score of 19-21. The Little Giants rolled off five consecutive points to jump back in front 23-21.

Wittenberg refused to go away, scoring the next two points to tie the set again, this time at 23-23. The Little Giants forced an attack error on Wittenberg to score and regain the serve prior to a
Luke Wallace kill on set point to claim their first set win by a score of 25-23 and even the match at 1-1.

The Tigers won the third set 25-17, but Wabash won the fourth set thanks to a quick start. The Little Giants scored the first four points of the set and eventually took a 7-1 lead before claiming a 25-18 victory to force a fifth set. The two teams traded points before Wabash scored four consecutive times to take a 6-3 advantage before eventually taking a 15-10 win for a 3-2 in the match and first victory in school history.

Wabash raced out to wins in the first two sets of the second match by scores of 25-13 and 25-23. The Tigers answered with 25-14 and 25-16 victories in the third and fourth sets to once again send the match into a tiebreaker. The Little Giant never trailed in the final set, winning 15-9 to complete the two-game sweep in Springfield.

Wabash recorded 44 kills in the first match against Wittenberg, led by Wallace with 20.
Luke Davis picked up 32 of the Little Giants' 34 assists.
Ricky Sessions paced the team with 21 digs. The Little Giants combined for ten total blocks in the opening contest with
Evan Nichols scoring one solo block and four block assists.

Wabash finished with 26 kills in the second contest with Wallace leading the way again with 14. He also made a team-high 15 digs while libero
Justin Abequibel recorded 14 digs. Davis made 22 of the team's 24 assists. Nichols stuffed one solo block and five block assists out of the Little Giants' total of 13 blocks in the finale.

Wabash will play Fontbonne University on Sunday, February 14 in a pair of MCVL matches beginning at 1 p.m. at Chadwick Court. No spectators will be allowed in attendance, but the matches will be streamed over the Internet at
