Wabash played the final home matches of its inaugural volleyball season Sunday against Trine University. The Little Giants honored
Luke Wallace, the lone senior on the 2021 team, prior to a pair of Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League losses to the Thunder by scores of 3-1 and 3-0.

Wabash (2-12) started strong in the opening match. The Little Giants took an early 4-1 lead before Trine (9-5) responded to eventually take an 11-8 advantage. The Thunder held on to win the first set 25-18.

The Little Giants capitalized on the good start in the first set to build confidence in the second. Wabash captured its first winning set at home with a 25-19 victory to tie the match score at 1-1. Wallace scored four kills for Wabash in that set.
Carson Meadors added three kills and
Thang Sathing produced two.
Luke Davis picked up nine assists for Wabash. Wallace scored on two serving aces and
Evan Nichols added one.

Trine came back to win the third and fourth sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-19.

Wallace led Wabash with 15 kills in the first match as well as a team-high 32 receptions.
Ricky Sessions tallied seven kills for the Little Giants and tied with Wallace for a team-best nine digs. Davis finished the game with 28 assists.

The Little Giants lost the second match against the Thunder in three sets by scores of 25-17, 25-19, 25-19. Wabash battled in the second set with seven ties and four lead changes before the Thunder eventually took a 10-9 lead on the way to the win.

Wallace and Nichols combined for 17 kills in the second game against Trine. Wallace led the way with nine to go with eight from Nichols. Davis picked up another 18 assists with only one set error. Sessions recorded 22 receptions. Sathing paced the Little Giants with nine digs.

Wabash closes out the 2021 season on Saturday with two MCVL contests at Olivet College in Michigan.
