Wabash rallied for a pair of runs in the final two innings of Sunday's home baseball game against Alma College. The Little Giants were unable to provide the final runs needed to overcome the visiting Scots and lost the final game of the three-game weekend series by a score of 10-7.

Wabash (1-4) got three hits each from
Austin Simmers and
Noah Luebbehusen as part of a 10-hit team effort. But Alma (4-3) scored 10 runs on 15 hits and used a three-run third inning and four-run fourth to jump out to the early lead.

The Little Giants struck first in the opening frame of the ball game.
Liam Patton drilled a two-out single to center to score
AJ Reid for the 1-0 lead. The Scots followed with their seven-run outburst in the third and fourth innings to chase starting pitcher
Sean Smith from the game. Smith worked 3-2/3 innings and allowed five earned runs on eight hits with one walk and two strikeouts.
Tavic Simmons,
Derek Haslett, and
Sam Phillips combined to hold the Scots to three runs on seven hits over the next 5-1/3 innings. Phillips struck out three of the eight batters he faced over the final 1-2/3 innings.

Trailing 7-1 in the bottom of the fourth, Wabash started its comeback effort when
Canton Terry drew a one-out walk. Luebbehusen followed with a double to left field, then both runners scored on
Blake Juerling's two-run double down the left field line for a 7-3 ballgame. The Scots picked up single runs in the seventh and eighth innings to push their lead to 9-3.

Wabash scored two runs in the eighth on an RBI ground out by
Cameron Martin and an RBI single off the bat of Simmers. Alma responded with a run in the top of the ninth to extend its lead to 10-5.

Patton began the ninth inning for Wabash with a walk. Terry drew a one-out walk ahead of a ground out by Luebbehusen that moved the runners to second and third. Pinch-hitter
Brayden Lentz delivered a two-run double to right field to keep the inning alive and bring the Little Giants to within three runs with the tying run in the on-deck circle. The Scots finished off the inning and the game with a lineout to centerfield to earn the three-game series sweep.

Juerling and Lentz led Wabash with two RBI apiece. Simmers, Patton, and Martin also produced RBI. Patton drew three walks to go with his one base hit.
