Wabash split its opening North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader versus DePauw on Friday. The Little Giants won the opening contest 5-2 prior to a 5-3 loss in game two.

Wabash (8-8, 1-1 NCAC West) rallied in the first game of the four-game weekend series against the Tigers (8-8, 1-1 NCAC West) with three runs in the fifth inning DePauw opened the game with two runs in the first inning off starter
Kase Lawson. The senior righthander surrendered a pair of runs on four hits in the first inning before silencing the Tigers' bats over the final six innings. He allowed just two more hits in the game, finishing the six-hit complete game victory with three strikeouts and no walks to move to 3-2 for the year.

The Little Giants scored their first run in the fourth inning when
Austin Simmers opened the frame with a walk. He stole second then scored when a bunt single by
Andrew Jumonville was mishandled by the Tiger third baseman to cut the DePauw lead to 2-1.

Sean Smith started the three-run fifth when he was hit by a pitch with two outs in the inning.
Cameron Martin followed with a single to center. A walk to Simmers loaded the bases before a bases-clearing double by Jumonville gave Wabash a 4-2 lead.

Martin added an insurance run in the seventh inning on a single by Simmers for the 5-3 lead.

Jumonville recorded two of the Little Giants' four hits in the win.

Wabash managed just three hits in game two. Simmers had two of the three hits, with
Cole Vassilo picking up the third.
Dylan Scheid took his first loss of the season on mound. He gave up five runs on seven hits and two walks over six innings. Scheid also struck out three batters. The Tigers scored two runs in the first after Wabash scored a run in the first. The Little Giants took advantage of a pair of DePauw errors ahead of a sacrifice fly by Vassilo.

Wabash cut the lead to 3-2 after DePauw added another run in the second inning. Simmers reached on a single to short, stole second and third bases, then scored when a fly ball by Jumonville was dropped by the center fielder. Vassilo added another run in the sixth with a leadoff triple and scored on a sacrifice fly from
Drew Prather. The Tigers added another run in the bottom of the sixth to secure the win.
