A late rally was not enough for the Wabash lacrosse team Saturday in a 28-7 loss at DePauw in North Coast Athletic Conference competition.
 
The Little Giants (4-3, 0-2 NCAC) scored five goals in the final period but were outscored 7-5 by the host Tigers (3-3, 2-0 NCAC) over the final 15 minutes. DePauw jumped out to an early 9-0 lead in the first period then outscored Wabash 6-1 in the second and third periods.
 
Caulin Fitgerald and Anthony Nguyen scored three goals apiece for Wabash. Samuel Miller added the seventh goal for the Little Giants. Joseph Plencner tallied the lone assist for Wabash in the game.
 
Wabash put 21 of its 29 shots on goal, but were outshot 62-29 by the Tigers. Stephen Krajcir made 13 saves in goal for the Little Giants. John Frey played one period at goalkeeper and recorded one save.
 
Evan Schiefelbein led the team with six ground balls. Schiefelbein, Cody Bevelhimer, and Conner Cochran each caused a turnover in the game.
 
Wabash will play ninth-ranked Denison University in a pair of matches next week, starting with a road contest against the Big Red on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
