Wabash opened its second varsity season of men's volleyball Friday evening with a match at St. Norbert College in Wisconsin. The Little Giants rallied to extend the first set but eventually lost three sets to none (3-0).

Both teams traded points in the opening set before Wabash (0-1) opened up a two-point lead at 17-15 on a service ace by
Ricky Sessions and a kill by
Luke Davis off an assist from
Will Beikes. St. Norbert (1-0) came back to tie the match at 17-17.

St. Norbert moved in front 21-19 before
Carson Meadors put away a kill for a point ahead of a service point from
Luke Davis.
Evan Nichols added a kill on the next point to put Wabash in front 22-21. St. Norbert was poised for the win at 24-23 when a kill by Beikes evened the score and sent the set into a tiebreaker. Wabash tied the score at 24-24 before the two teams traded points on the next two serves for a 25-25 score. St. Norbert eventually claimed the first set by a score of 27-25 ending the string of 18 ties and seven lead changes.

The teams continued trading points in the second set until St. Norbert moved in front 20-16 and maintained a four-point lead throughout the remainder of the set for a 25-21 victory. Wabash was never able to claim a lead in the third set as St. Norbert claimed a 25-20 win and the 3-0 overall victory.

Beikes broke the Wabash three-set record by handing out 23 assists in his collegiate debut. Sessions led the team with 10 kills and two service aces. Davis turned in a .455 hitting percentage on 11 total attempts for the Little Giants.
Sam Heckman recorded two block assists.
Luis Rivera finished with a team-best seven digs.

Wabash continues its weekend series in Wisconsin with two matches on Saturday at Marian University. The Little Giants will play Maranatha Baptist University at 11 a.m. (CST). Wabash takes on Marian at 1 p.m. (CST).
