Wabash scored three goals in the final period of Tuesday's home lacrosse game against Monmouth College of Illinois. The Little Giants' late scoring came up just short in a 9-7 loss to the visiting Scots.

Wabash (3-2) trailed 8-4 after three periods before
Anthony Nguyen scored his second of three goals in the game. Monmouth (2-0) added its final goal to retake the four-goal advantage.
Joseph Plencner scored his third goal of the game with 2:46 left to play ahead of Nguyen's third goal of the evening with 1:30 on the clock to bring Wabash within two. Monmouth ran out the final 90 seconds of action to end the contest.

Wabash took an early lead on a goal from Nguyen. Plencner added two goals to answer a three-goal outburst by Monmouth (2-0). Plencner's second evened the score at 3-3.

Ethan Stonis scored an unassisted goal to tie the score at 4-4 before the Scots added a goal in the final three minutes of first-half action to take a 5-4 lead at the break.

Wabash recorded five assists on its seven-goal effort.

Evan Schiefelbein, and Stonis picked up one assist apiece.

Shiefelbein paced Wabash with a team-best four caused turnovers and nine ground balls.
Matthew Hendrick recorded 14 saves in goal for the Little Giants.
Luka DiFilippo finished the day with 10 faceoff wins.
