Rogers Ties Single-Season Assists Record In NCAC Game At Oberlin

Artie Rogers tied the Wabash single-season record for assists in a season by handing out two helpers in the lacrosse team's North Coast Athletic Conference road contest at Oberlin Saturday afternoon. The Little Giants got three goals from Ethan Stonis along with single goals from Rogers, Joseph Plencner, and Anthony Nguyen in the 23-6 loss to the Yeomen.

Rogers put Wabash (3-7, 0-3 NCAC) on the scoreboard with his fourth goal of the season with 8:33 left in the first period on a man-up situation to trim the Oberlin (9-1, 3-0 NCAC) lead to 3-1. Stonis picked up the assist on the goal for his sixth helper of the year. Rogers picked up two more assists to add to his season total, giving him a team-high 22 for the year to tie Steven Stark for the single-season school record. Rogers' first assist came on a goal from Nguyen in the third period. The final Rogers assist came on a goal from Stonis in the fourth period. Plencner, Stonis, and Jeremiah Eaton each handed out one assist apiece.

Stonis scored his first goal in the third period, then added two more in the final period in another man-advantage opportunity. The Little Giants were 2-for-2 in man-up chances for the game. Nguyen scored his 15th goal of the year in the final period. Stonis picked up two more goals in the fourth period before Plencner closed out the scoring with a goal with five minutes remaining in the contest.

Evan Schiefelbein won four of his nine faceoff chances in the game. He also scooped up a team-best five ground balls. Stonis, Schiefelbein, and AJ Miller each finished with two caused turnovers. Matthew Hendrick recorded 19 saves in goal for the Little Giants.

Wabash returns home to face arch-rival DePauw University in a conference matchup at Fischer Field on Tuesday, April 12 at 4 p.m.
