CRAWFORDSVILLE, IN -- Wabash got an early goal from Jose Escalante  and never trailed again in a 3-1 victory over Franklin College in the season-opening match at Fischer Field Thursday evening.

Wabash improved to 1-0-0 overall following the win.

How it Happened

Wabash grabbed a 1-0 lead when Jose Escalante notched his first goal of the season in the 11th minute, assisted by Mitchell Keeling.

The Little Giants added another score on a goal from Cameron McIntosh -- his first goal of the season -- in the 38th minute, assisted by Jakob Faber.

Wabash made it a 3-0 advantage on Quinn Leous' 63rd-minute goal on a penalty kick.

The Grizzlies narrowed the Little Giants lead with a penalty kick of their own and made it a 3-1 game with a 68th-minute goal from Jon Moore.

• Michael Bertram piled up one save for the Little Giants out of four total Grizzlies shots.
