The Wabash College swimming and diving team competed against two NCAA Division I programs Friday evening at Valparaiso University. The Little Giants lost to the host Beacons of Valparaiso 127-104 and were defeated by Eastern Illinois University 137-93.

Caleb McCarty swam to a pair of first-place finishes at the three-way meet. He won the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 21.35. He added a victory in the 100 freestyle by completing the race in a season-best time of 46.71.

Ethan Johns placed second in the 200-yard freestyle by finishing in 1:44.47. Johns added a fourth-place finish in the  100 free at 48.60.

Xander Straw captured second place in the 1,000-yard freestyle after touching the wall for the final time in 10:07.77. He finished the 500-yard freestyle in 4:56.59.
Barret Smith placed fourth in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 56.22.

William Morris won both diving events for Wabash, with teammate
Justin To earning two second-place finishes. Morris won the one-meter competition with 171.70 points, with To placing second with 136.05 points. Morris scored 174 points to win the three-meter diving event. To scored 136.80 points for a second-place finish.

On Saturday, Wabash continues its competition against NCAA Division I opponents with an 11 a.m. dual meet at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis against IUPUI.
