Box Score The Wabash College volleyball team split a pair of matches in Chicago on Saturday. The Little Giants defeated Roosevelt University in three sets before dropping a five-set contest to Concordia University – Chicago.
Wabash (7-10) defeated Roosevelt by scores of 25-16, 25-19, and 25-21.
Jackson Leeper paced Wabash with 14 kills and a .522 attack percentage.
Ricky Sessions put away 11 kills.
Will Beikes gave out 41 assists.
Carson Meadors recorded 13 digs in the match.
Patrick Volk had 12 digs, along with nine kills.
The Little Giants took an early lead in the second match against the host Cougars from Concordia University. Wabash won the first set 25-21 but dropped the next two by scores of 25-19 and 25-23. The Little Giants rallied for a 25-22 fourth-set victory to force the decisive fifth set.
Wabash trailed in the tiebreaker 7-2 before rallying to tie the score at 10-10. The Cougars had match point at 14-11, but Wabash scored the next two points to cut the lead to one point at 14-13. The Cougars put away a kill and won the match 15-13 in the fifth set.
Sessions and Volk shared the kills lead in the second match with 15 apiece. Leeper added 13 kills and finished with an attack percentage of .571. Beikes gave out 43 assists. Volk finished with a team-high 17 digs. Sessions recorded 11 digs.
Wabash travels to Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College for a match on Tuesday, February 28.
