The Wabash College volleyball team scored a first-set win over Saint Mary-of-the-Woods in a home match Tuesday evening. The Little Giants could not close out the contest as the visiting Pomeroys defeated the Little Giants 3-1 (25-16, 25-57, 22-25, 20-25).

Wabash (2-6) matched points with SMWC (1-6) in the early serves of the first set. The Little Giants ran off three straight points after a 2-2 tie and claimed a 10-4 lead in the opening frame before taking a 25-16 victory.
Ricky Sessions posted a team-high four kills in the first set, with
Jackson Leeper putting away three kills.
Will Beikes gave out five assists.

The two teams played a back-and-forth affair in the second set with 11 ties and seven lead changes. Wabash held a 24-20 advantage but could not put away the deciding point to capture the second set. The Pomeroys tied the score at 24-24 before winning 27-25 to even the team scoring at a set apiece.

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods took the final two sets by scores of 25-22 and 25-20 to earn the 3-1 victory.

Patrick Volk finished the night with a team-best 19 kills for Wabash and a .455 attack percentage. Leeper and Sessions finished with 11 kills each. Beikes recorded 38 assists.
Luis Rivera led the team with 24 digs.
Luke Davis added 22 digs, and Session made 16 digs. Leeper and Michel Enz both made two solo blocks in the match.

Wabash will compete at a four-team tournament at Illinois Wesleyan Friday and Saturday, beginning with a 4 p.m. CT match against the host Titans.
