Volleyball Falls In Four-Set Match At Mount St. Joseph

The Wabash College volleyball team won its first set in its Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League contest at Mount St. Joseph University Saturday afternoon. The Little Giants dropped the following three sets to the host Lions in a 3-1 league loss.

Wabash (7-14, 0-2 MCVL) captured the opening set 25-18. Patrick Volk paced the Little Giants with six kills. Will Beikes finished the first set with a .750 kill percentage to go with 11 assists. 

Mount St. Joseph (7-7, 1-1 MCVL) captured the second set 25-18 to even the match at 1-1. The two squads put up a monumental battle in the third set. The lead changed hands five times, along with 15 tie scores, with the final tie coming at 26-26. The Lions scored the set's final two points to win 28-26 for a 2-1 overall lead. Mount St. Joseph claimed the match with another extended set, winning the fourth set 26-24. 

Volk finished with 15 total kills in the match. Ricky Sessions recorded 12 kills. Beikes handed out 38 assists. Zachary Small paced the defense with a team-high 23 digs. Beikes added 15 digs, and Sessions finished with 13 digs. 

Wabash returns to action March 18 with a home MCVL match against Fontbonne.
