Ricky Sessions set the Wabash four-set record for kills Saturday in a Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League home match against Fontbonne University. The host Little Giants battled throughout the contest but could not overcome the visiting Griffins in a 3-1 loss. Wabash lost by scores of 16-25, 25-21, 23-25, and 23-25.

Sessions turned in a program-record 24 kills over four sets in the loss, giving him 226 for the season. The junior finished the match with a .487 attack percentage. Sessions finished the match with 14 kills with a 64-percent success rate on first-ball attacks.

Wabash (7-15, 0-3 MCVL) started strong in the opening set by scoring the first two points before Fontbonne (12-8, 2-1 MCVL) answered to even the score at 2-2. The two squads traded the lead three times with seven tie scores in the first set before the Griffins broke an 11-11 tied with four straight points for a 15-11 advantage. Fontbonne went on to win the opening set 25-16.

Wabash took control in the second set. The Little Giants opened with the first point on a kill by
Luke Davis and rallied from four Fontbonne ties before outscoring the Griffins 11-2. Wabash claimed a 21-14 lead before a Fontbonne rally closed the lead to three points at 23-20. Patrick Vok set up the set point with one of his four kills in the set before Davis gave the Little Giants the 25-21 win with his second kill.

Fontbonne returned the favor in the third set. The Griffins took the early lead and held off Wabash rallies that tied the score on three occasions. The Little Giants matched Fontbonne at 10-10 and remained within three points of the Griffins in the closing plays of the set. Wabash trailed 24-20 before scoring the following three points before Fontbonned scored on a Little Giants' service error for the 25-23 win.

Wabash raced to a 7-3 lead in the fourth set and held a 14-9 lead before another Fontbonne comeback. The Griffins outscored Wabash 6-1 over the next seven serves to tie the score at 15-15. The teams traded points over the next four serves before Fontbonne took an 18-17 lead. The Griffins held off Wabash to close the match with a 25-23 victory and a 3-1 overall win.

Will Beikes gave out 38 assists throughout the four-set contest. Davis and
Michael Enz shared the team lead with seven digs apiece.

Wabash travels to Trine University next Friday evening for an MCVL road contest.
