The Wabash College volleyball team played its final road match of 2023, traveling to Trine University Friday evening. The Little Giants lost a 3-0 contest to the host Thunder in Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League action.
 
Wabash (8-16, 0-4 MCVL) lost the opening set 25-19. The Little Giants matched Trine (12-9, 3-0 MCVL) point for point in the early going, tying the score at 10-10 before the Thunder went on a 10-5 run to take control of the set. Jackson Leeper, Ricky Sessions, and Patrick Volk paced the Little Giants, producing four kills each. Volk finished the set with an .800 attack percentage, while Leeper finished the set with a .667 attack percentage.
 
Wabash dropped the second set 25-23. Tied at 19-19, Trine scored the next three points to take a 22-19 lead. The Little Giants rallied with a kill from Volk and an attack error by Trine to close to a point at 22-21. The Thunder answered with two more points to force set point, but Wabash responded with another kill from Volk and an error by the Thunder for another one-point difference at 24-23. Trine scored the final point of the set to take a 2-0 lead in the match.
 
Wabash trailed in the final set from the outset in a 25-17 loss.
 
Volk finished the match with 13 kills to pace the Wabash offense. Will Beikes gave out 30 assists. Zachary Small and Sessions finished with ten digs apiece on defense.
 
The Little Giants return to Chadwick Court next weekend for matches against Mount Union and Baldwin Wallace.
