Ethan Stonis scored four goals to lead the Wabash College lacrosse team to a 10-9 road victory at Hanover Saturday afternoon. The victory was the first by the Little Giants over the Panthers in school history.

Wabash (6-2) took the lead from the outset on a
Quinn Fitzgerald goal five minutes into the contest. Hanover (3-3) answered with a game-tying goal a minute later before Stonis scored the first of his four goals off a pass from
Conner Cochran to put Wabash up 2-1 with 8:09 left in the first period.
Jake Pippen added a goal with an assist from Fitzgerald to lift the Little Giants to a 3-1 lead. Dirk Meinhart scored his second goal for the Panthers to cut the lead to one, but
Josh Taylor and Stonis scored twice more to give Wabash a 5-2 advantage after 15 minutes of action. Taylor's goal was the only man-up goal of the game for either team.

Hanover scored the first two goals of the second period before Stonis notched his third goal of the contest. The Panthers added a final goal of the period to close to within a point at 6-5 heading into halftime.

Hanover opened the second half with back-to-back goals to claim its only lead of the game at 7-6.
Luka DiFilippo tied the score nine seconds after the Panthers' goal to even the score at 7-7.
Caulin Fitzgerald provided Wabash's final lead with his lone contest goal. Stonis added his final goal at the 6:07 mark of the third period.
Artie Rogers added a goal off an assist by Stonis midway through the last period to put Wabash in front 10-8. Hanover scored with 18 seconds remaining, but Wabash closed the contest without allowing a final scoring attempt by the Panthers for the win.

Wabash completes the non-conference portion of its 2023 schedule with a 6-1 record against Division III opponents and tied a school record with its third road win of the year.

Fitzgerald, Cochran, Pippen, and Stonis each recorded assists in the game for Wabash. The Little Giants outshot Hanover 43-37 and owned a 27-18 shots-on-goal advantage over the Panthers. Freshman
Braeden Cooper recorded nine saves in goal for Wabash.

DiFilippo won 18-of-23 faceoff attempts for Wabash. He scooped six ground balls to join Rogers with six ground balls in the game. Stonis and
Bryce Poling each forced a team-best four turnovers.

Wabash opens North Coast Athletic Conference play next Saturday at home against Hiram College. The Little Giants will honor all returning varsity alumni players before the 1 p.m. faceoff.
