Wabash scored ten first-period goals to set the tone in Saturday's North Coast Athletic Conference lacrosse opener against Hiram College. The Little Giants secured a 21-7 victory on a record-setting performance by junior
Artie Rogers.

Rogers gave out seven assists in the match his own mark for the second-most goals in a game. His second assist of the contest broke his own single-season record for assists of 24 set last season. He currently trails Wabash career assists record holder Steve Stark by five. Stark handed out 67 assists from 2016 to 2019. Rogers now has 62 assists in 37 career games.

The victory moves Wabash to 7-2 for the season and 1-0 in conference play for only the second time in program history. The Little Giants defeated Hiram (5-5, 0-1 NCAC) in the 2019 conference opener.

Wabash started the scoring with an unassisted goal from
Josh Taylor five minutes into the contest. Taylor added a second goal less than a minute later off an assist by
Jake Pippen. Rogers recorded his first assist of the game on a helper for a goal by Pippen at the 7:53 mark of the first period to put the Little Giants up 3-0.
Ethan Stonis scored his first of six goals in the match ten seconds later for a 4-0 Wabash lead.

Rogers picked up his second assist of the game on Stonis' second goal before
Quinn Fitzgerald added another Wabash goal to boost the score to 6-0. Pippen added another goal on the way to a single-game-best six goals. Stonis, Taylor, and Pippen each added one more goal in the period for a 10-0 Wabash lead after 15 minutes of action.

Stonis added another goal to start the second period for an 11-0 Little Giants lead. Wabash outscored Hiram 5-1 in the second period before the two teams matched three-goal periods in the third and fourth for the 21-7 final.

Fitzgerald scored five goals for Wabash in addition to the six-goal efforts of Stonis and Pippen. Taylor finished with four goals in the game.

Wabash outshot Hiram 50-40 and put 29 shots on goal compared to 22 by the visiting Terriers. The Little Giants scored on three of their six extra-man opportunities while holding Hiram scoreless on six extra-man chances.
DiFilippo won 19-of-25 faceoff draws and grabbed a team-best 12 ground balls.
Owen Hauber won a pair of faceoffs to give Wabash a 21-of-30 effort from the dot for the day.
Lucas Cunningham and Pippen each recorded two caused turnovers in the contest.
