Baseball Opens Spring Break Florida Trip With Sunday Doubleheader

Little Giants Drop Doubleheader To Misericordia

The Wabash College baseball team opened its 2023 Florida spring break trip with a doubleheader loss to Misericordia University Sunday afternoon in Port Charlotte. The Little Giants lost the opener 8-3 before dropping a 5-2 decision in game two.

Derek Haslett (2-1) got the ball to start for Wabash (4-3) and took the loss. Henry Birk was a bright spot for the Little Giants, coming out of the bullpen and throwing three innings, giving up one run on two hits, with no walks and one strikeout.

Camden Scheidt led the way offensively for the Little Giants, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with a double and an RBI. AJ Reid also went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Liam Patton also helped, going 1-for-3 for Wabash with a double and an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Little Giants were trailing 4-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Wabash scored three times, including two driven in on back-to-back doubles from Scheidt and Reid. Evan Neukam led the way offensively for the Little Giants, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame with a double. AJ Reid also provided a standout day at the dish, going 1-for-4 with a double. Benjamin Henke also chipped in, going 1-for-3 for Wabash with a double.
