The Wabash College tennis team swept its Wednesday competition with a 4-1 victory in the afternoon over St. Thomas (FL) University before defeating Immaculata University 8-1 in the nightcap.
Wabash (6-4) captured the lone doubles point in the match versus St. Thomas by winning two of the three flights.
Cole Borden and
Liam Grennon combined for a 6-4 win at number one doubles.
Ethan Koeneman and
Cole Shifferly scored a 6-4 win in the number three doubles match.
Shifferly earned a three-set victory at number two singles with a 6-2, 4-6, 10-2 win. Borden also needed three sets to score his win at number three singles (6-2, 0-6, 10-5).
Tharakesh Ashokar wrapped up the match with a 6-3, 6-4 straight-sets win at number five singles.Â
Wabash won eight of the nine matches in the evening contest against Immaculata. The Little Giants swept the three doubles matches.
Jett Brownlee and
Eduardo Werneck won 8-4 at number one doubles. Blake Disher II and
Bennett Strain scored an 8-1 win at number two doubles.
Ethan Wallace and
Christan Zimmerman finished with an 8-0 win at number three doubles.
Werneck won his number two singles match 6-0, 6-1 for the Little Giants. Discher won 6-1, 6-0 at number three singles. Brownlee added a shutout 6-0, 6-0 win at number four singles. Strain claimed a 6-1, 6-1 win at number five singles. Wallace wrapped up the final Wabash team point with a three-set 6-2, 3-6. 10-3 victory at number six singles.
Wabash wraps up its spring break trip to Orlando on Thursday with an afternoon match versus Hamden-Sydney College.
