Fitzgerald Tallies Three Goals In Lacrosse Loss At Wooster

The Wabash College lacrosse team could not overcome a six-goal second period by the College of Wooster in a 23-4 road loss to the Fighting Scots in North Coast Athletic Conference competition Saturday evening at Wooster High School.

Wabash (7-5, 1-3 NCAC) got a pair of first-period goals from Quinn Fitzgerald to answer eight goals by Wooster (12-1, 3-1 NCAC). Fitzgerald's second goal came in a power-play situation after a faceoff violation penalty by the Scots. Wooster tacked on six goals in the second period to take a 14-2 halftime lead.

Jake Pippen scored the Little Giants' lone third-period goal in response to five goals from Wooster. Fitzgerald scored the final Wabash goal in the fourth period off a pass from Pippen.

Wabash put up 22 shots compared to 64 by the Scots. The Little Giants scored on one of their six man-up opportunities while holding Wooster to one goal in two extra-man chances. Luka DiFilippo won 12 of the 27 faceoffs in the game and grabbed a team-best six ground balls. Lucas Cunningham scooped up an additional five ground balls.
