CRAWFORDSVILLE, Indiana – Wabash scored six touchdowns and one field goal on its first seven possessions Saturday in a 59-6 rout of Oberlin in the Little Giants' Homecoming contest.
Wabash (2-1, 1-0 NCAC) scored the lopsided victory in its 2023 home and North Coast Athletic Conference opener. The Little Giants produced 490 yards of total offense to just 69 yards of offense for Oberlin (1-3, 0-2 NCAC).
Senior quarterback
Liam Thompson threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more. He completed 11-of-15 passes for 141 yards and rushed for 58 yards.
Cooper Sullivan and Derek Allen, Jr. each hauled in five passes for the Little Giants. Sullivan finished with a team-high 86 receiving yards and one 22-yard touchdown reception. Allen, Jr. recorded 57 receiving yards and one TD catch and ran for a 57-yard touchdown in the first quarter.
Sophomore
Xavier Tyler ran for a pair of touchdowns on scampers of 16 and four yards. He led the Wabash ground game with 12 carries for 71 yards.
Donovan Snyder added a seven-yard TD run for the first Little Giants' score of the game.
Brody Rucker connected on a 32-yard field goal as part of the 31-point first quarter effort.
Joe Rios paced the Wabash defense with a team-best seven tackles.
Jordan Cree,
Cal Pawlowski, and
Aidan Walker each made 1-1/2 tackles for losses.
RJ Tolbert,
Steven Thomas, and Cree each finished with one sack apiece.
Wabash travels to Ohio Wesleyan next Saturday for a 1 p.m. NCAC contest.
