Box Score The Wabash College volleyball dominated the third set of its Friday evening match at Concordia University Chicago to earn a 3-0 victory over the host Cougars.
Wabash (2-1) never trailed after a first set that saw nine ties and three lead changes. The Little Giants fought off a rally by CUC (2-2) after reaching set point at 24-22 in the opener. Patrick Volk put away the final kill of the set to give the Little Giants the 1-0 lead.
Wabash took a 2-0 lead in the second set and maintained its advantage throughout to earn a 25-22 victory in the second set. The Little Giants took a 2-0 advantage in the final set before BawiBawi Thang served for nine straight points as Wabash took an 11-1 lead. The Little Giants continued to cruise in the last set, winning 25-13 to earn the three-set sweep.
Volk put away a match-best 11 kills with a .250 attack percentage. Thang scored eight kills and a .211 attack percentage. Will Beikes recorded 21 assists and finished with a .362 setting percentage. Thang, Beikes, and Ricky Sessions finished with five digs apiece, while Sessions picked up three total blocks with two solos on defense.
Wabash finished the match with 27 total kills and 24 assists.
The Little Giants open the home portion of the 2024 schedule on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. match against Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.
