The Wabash College volleyball team traveled to Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday to play two teams familiar to most Little Giant fans as members of the North Coast Athletic Conference. Wabash won both matches with a 3-1 victory over Hiram College and a 3-2 win against Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League partner Wittenberg University.

Wabash (9-3) Â matched its highest win total in program history with the two victories. The Little Giants finished with a program-best record of nine wins in 2023.

Wabash and Hiram (9-5) traded points over the first 12 serves until the Terriers took the first set 25-19. Wabash rallied for victories in the next three sets, winning 25-21, 25-23, and 25-19 for the 3-1 victory.

Bawibawi Thang put away 13 kills with a .333 attack percentage for Wabash. The freshman also picked up a team-best nine digs on defense.
Will Beikes recorded 33 assists.

Wabash and Wittenberg (7-7) played a five-set battle in the afternoon's final match. The host Tigers took a 1-0 lead after capturing a 25-18 win, leading from start to finish in the first set. Wabash rallied for victories in the next two sets with wins of 25-23 and 25-17. The fourth set featured four ties, with most coming in extra play before the Tigers took a 29-27 victory to force a fifth and deciding set. That fifth set saw 11 ties and one lead change before Wabash claimed a 17-15 victory to claim a 3-2 overall win for the match.

Thang's 22 kills led Wabash on offense. The freshman finished with a .367 hitting percentage.
Ricky Sessions scored 16 kills with a .312 attack percentage. Beikes added another 54 assists to set a new five-set school record. Christopher board made 11 digs to pace Wabash on defense, with Beikes adding another ten digs for the Little Giants.
