Tennis Scores Two Home Wins In Saturday Matches

The Wabash College tennis team scored two decisive victories Saturday in home matches at the College Tennis Center. The Little Giants cruised to an 8-1 win in the morning session before shutting out Earlham in a 9-0 victory Saturday evening.
 
Wabash (4-3) opened play against Principia with an 8-0 victory at number one doubles by Augusto Ghidini and Cole Shifferly. Tharakesh Ashokar and Rafael Rin added an 8-4 win in the third doubles flight.
 
Shifferly picked up a straight-set 6-4-6-3 win at number one singles for the Little Giants. Ghidini added a 6-1 6-4 victory at number two singles. Cole Borden won the third singles flights in three sets by scores of 6-2, 4-6, and 10-4. Ashokar won 6-4, 6-0 at number five singles, and Eduardo Werneck completed the singles' sweep with a 7-5 6-4 victory in the sixth flight.
 
The Little Giants won all nine matches in the evening match versus Earlham in the 9-0 victory. Vittorio Bona and Sam Dziadosz earned an 8-6 win at number one doubles. Eric Tien and Christan Zimmerman combined for an 8-0 victory in the second doubles flight. Ethan Koeneman and Eli Arnold scored an 8-2 at number three doubles.
 
Bona opened singles play with a 6-2, 6-2 win in the first flight. Dziadosz also won 6-2, 6-2 at number two singles. Zimmerman added a 6-0, 6-1 victory at third singles. Tien picked up a 6-1, 6-0 victory at number four singles. Cole Langston earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the sixth singles flight. Nathan Brackney completed the shutout by blanking his opponent at number six singles 6-0, 6-0.
 
Wabash travels to Orlando, Florida, for a series of matches during the College's spring break beginning March 4.
