Wabash honored the four senior members of the 2024 men's volleyball team before the Little Giants' Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League match against Calvin University on Friday evening. Wabash rallied in a five-set contest but could not capture the win in a 3-2 loss to the visiting Knights.

Ricky Sessions were the first recruiting class for Wabash (13-7, 1-2 MCVL) when the program began four years ago. All four players started for Little Giants and led the team to a 27-25 victory in the opening set.

Calvin (4-14, 1-1 MCVL) led the entire second set to claim a 25-18 victory and even the score at a set apiece. The two teams battled back and forth in the third set, playing to a 12-12 tie before the Knights jumped in front for good to earn a 25-22 win.

Wabash took an early lead in the fourth set and raced out to a 14-8 lead. Calvin rallied to tie the score at 22-22 before the Little Giants closed out the set with two kills by
Bawibawi Thang for a 25-23 victory to force the fifth and decisive set.

The Knights took a 13-6 lead in the finale before Wabash rallied to score seven of the next eight points to get to within a point at 14-13. But Calvin put the match away to claim their first MCVL victory in the first-year program's history with a kill by Jonathan Pfeifer.

Sessions led the Wabash offense with 16 kills.
Shad Wilson put away ten kills and produced a .346 attack percentage. Thang finished with ten kills in three sets.
Will Beikes gave out 24 assists in three sets for the Little Giants.
Christopher Board paced the defense with a team-high 16 digs.

Wabash returns to action for its final home game of the 2024 regular season on Saturday at 7 p.m. against Trine University.
