Little Giants Open Home Portion of the Season With Doubleheader Split Versus Hanover

Wabash opened the home portion of its 2024 baseball season with a Saturday afternoon split in a doubleheader against Hanover College. The Little Giants rallied from down 5-3 in the sixth inning to take an 8-7 win in game one before losing game two 11-8.

Ethan Kimmerle (0-2) started and took the loss on the mound for Wabash (5-5). Matthew Wright was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going two shutout innings while allowing one hit.

In addition to his three hits, Scheidt had a triple, a walk, and two RBI to lead the Little Giants. Henke added an RBI to his three-hit performance as well. AJ Reid put together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding two RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Little Giants were trailing 3-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Wabash scored twice, with one run coming across on Henke's single.
The Panthers expanded their lead to 5-2 before the Little Giants offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the fourth. Wabash scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Scheidt, which brought the score to 5-3 in favor of the Panthers.
Hanover expanded their lead to 11-3 before the Wabash offense got back to work, reducing that lead to 11-8 in the eighth. The Little Giants bats heated up in the inning, scoring five runs, including a one-run flyout off the bat of Will Fremion.
