PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- Bradley Gilliam and
AJ Reid each collected two extra-base hits to help lead the Wabash College Little Giants past the Heidelberg University Student Princes 14-6 on Saturday to close out the Little Giants' 2024 spring break trip. The victory gave Wabash a split with Heidelberg after the Little Giants lost an extra-innings game to the Student Princes on Thursday.
Caleb Everson (3-0) got the win for Wabash (4-4). The
right-hander went six innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on five hits, allowing one walk and striking out four.
Jackson Woehr also pitched well, going one shutout inning without allowing a hit, walking one, and striking out one.
Gilliam paced the Little Giants on offense, putting together two hits in five trips to the plate with a double, a triple, and five RBI.
Camden Scheidt's two extra-base hits were the highlight of a 2-for-6 day and included two doubles. Reid contributed a double, a triple, and two RBI as part of a 3-for-4 performance at the plate.

McKinzie.
Wabash scored another run on an RBI triple off the bat of Reid in the third inning, scoring Scheidt for a 2-0 lead.
Heidelberg (8-4) narrowed Wabash's lead to 2-1 before the Little Giants stretched the advantage to 5-1 in the fourth inning. The Little Giants notched three runs in the frame, two coming across on a two-RBI double from Gilliam.
Wabash held the Student Princes scoreless before their offense got things moving the next inning. The Little Giants scored once on an RBI single off the bat of
Michael Galanos, bringing the score to 6-1 in favor of Wabash.
The Little Giants kept Heidelberg without a run before building on their lead to 14-1 the following inning. The Wabash offense piled up eight runs, highlighted by a three-run triple off the bat of Gilliam and a two-run double from
Evan Neukam. Heidelberg put five runs on the scoreboard before the game ended, but the Little Giants still coasted to the 14-6 win.
