Wabash College senior third baseman
AJ Reid moved closer to becoming the all-time hits leader in Little Giants by collecting four hits in a North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader sweep of Ohio Wesleyan University Tuesday afternoon at Goodrich Ballpark. Wabash won game one 6-5 before earning a 19-3 victory in seven innings in game two.

Reid moved into a tie for second place on the Wabash all-time hits list with 206, matching the career hit total of Chris Deig '12. Reid trails Wabash all-time hits leader Sean Roginski '19, who finished his career with 208.

Camden Scheidt became the eighth and ninth players in Little Giants baseball history to collect three doubles in one game. Both joined that list with three doubles apiece in the 19-run second game.

Wabash (21-17, 7-7 NCAC) remains in fifth place in the NCAC standings with a two-game series against the College of Wooster at home on Saturday beginning at noon. The Little Giants trail Kenyon College by one game for the final berth in the NCAC Tournament. Kenyon owns the head-to-head tiebreaker after sweeping Wabash in the doubleheader in Gambier, Ohio, earlier this season. Kenyon plays Wittenberg, currently in second place in the conference standings, at home on Saturday. Â

GAME 1 | Wabash 6, Ohio Wesleyan 5
Wabash took a 4-3 lead in the first inning and never surrendered the advantage on the way to a 6-5 win in the series opener.
The Little Giants were led by Scheidt, who went 2-for-2 in the game with a triple and two walks.
Kamden Earley went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Nick Logan also contributed for Wabash, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a walk and an RBI.
Dylan Haslett (2-2) got the win out of the bullpen for Wabash. The
right-hander went six shutout innings, giving up three hits, four walks, and striking out one.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Little Giants were trailing 3-0 in the first inning when the offense started clicking. Earley drove in the first run of the game for Wabash with a ground out to second. Logan followed with an RBI single.
Benjamin Henke tied the game with an RBI single to center. The Little Giants took a 4-3 lead when Logan raced home after the Ohio Wesleyan (18-18, 5-9 NCAC) centerfielder mishandled the ball.
Wabash took 5-3 lead on a Scheidt triple and a sacrifice fly from Reid in the second inning. Ohio Wesleyan clawed back to even the ballgame at five with two runs in the top of the third before Wabash reclaimed a 6-5 advantage in the fourth inning. The Little Giants scored the eventual game-winning RBI on single by Earley to bring home Scheidt from second.

Logan also chipped in for Wabash, putting together three hits in three trips to the plate while adding two walks and three RBI.
Will Phillips also put together a three-RBI game for the Little Giants.
Braeden Bryant (3-1) got the win out of the bullpen for Wabash. The
right-hander went 5.1 innings, giving up two runs, zero earned, on three hits, allowing three walks and striking out two.
Matthew Wright also pitched well, going one shutout inning while allowing one hit, walking none, and striking out one.
Ethan Kimmerle started for the Little Giants but was knocked out of the game after being hit by a line drive by the second batter of the game.

The Little Giants scored in six different innings on the way to victory. Wabash broke a 3-3 tie and took the lead for good at 4-3 in the second inning. The big hit for the Little Giants in the inning was a one-run single off the bat of
Reece Bauer.
