Little Giants Battle Ohio Wesleyan In Home NCAC Lacrosse Loss

The Wabash College lacrosse team battled with North Coast Athletic Conference co-leader Ohio Wesleyan University in Tuesday's home match. The Little Giants trailed by three goals at halftime before an 11-1 second-half scoring advantage ended in a 17-4 loss for the home squad.
 
Wabash (7-4, 0-3 NCAC) matched an early Ohio Wesleyan (7-3, 4-0 NCAC) goal when Will Sorg netted a man-up opportunity off a pass from Artie Rogers to even the score at 1-1 five minutes into the contest. The visiting Battling Bishops scored twice more in the period to take a 3-1 lead.
 
Sam Santiago opened the second period with his 13th goal of the season to trim the deficit to one goal at 3-2. The Battling Bishops scored the following three goals to take a 6-2 lead before Quinn Fitzgerald tallied his team-best 28th goal of the season for a 6-3 halftime score.
 
Ohio Wesleyan held Wabash scoreless in the third period while adding four goals to its total to produce a 10-3 lead heading into the final period. Christian Dybedock scored a second man-advantage goal for the Little Giants in the final 15 minutes, but it was not enough to offset a seven-goal output for OWU.
 
Wabash was efficient in the contest, scoring four goals on 15 total shots. Ohio Wesleyan attempted 67 total shots. Little Giant goalkeeper Colin Krekeler recorded a career-best 22 saves in the contest. Wabash finished 2-of-4 on man-up opportunities. Ohio Wesleyan went 0-for-2 in extra-man chances.
 
Blake Stephens and Rogers both recorded assists for Wabash. Quinn Shefferly recorded a team-best five ground balls while Lucas Cunningham finished with four ground balls. Shefferly caused five turnovers in the contest. Cunningham finished with four caused turnovers.
 
Wabash travels to Hiram, Ohio, on Saturday to face the Hiram College Terriers in NCAC action.
