Wabash Begins West Coast Matches Against Nationally-Ranked Cal Tech

PASADENA, California --- The Wabash College tennis team opened its Southern California spring break tennis trip with a match at Cal Tech Monday afternoon. The Little Giants picked up a win at number four singles in a 6-1 loss to the Beavers, ranked 34th in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III rankings.
 
Wabash (8-5) scored a point at number four singles with a three-set win by Augusto Ghidini. The junior rallied from a 2-6 loss in the opening set to win the final two by scores of 7-6 (7-5) and 11-9 in the third-set tiebreaker. Ghidini and Cole Shifferly also won their number-one doubles match7-5, but Cal Tech won the second and third doubles contests to capture the team point.
 
The Little Giants continue their spring break series of matches with a contest against 12th-ranked Washington University – St. Louis at 10 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time in Irvine, California.
