ANGOLA, Indiana --- Wabash rallied for wins in the third and fourth sets but lost 15-12 in the fifth-set tiebreaker for a 3-2 loss at Trine University on Friday evening in Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League action.
Wabash (12-7, 1-2 MCVL) lost the first two sets 25-13 and 25-15 before picking up a 26-24 victory in the third set. The Little Giants won set four 28-26 to force a decisive fifth set. Wabash owned an 8-7 lead in the final set before Trine (12-5, 2-0 MCVL) scored the next three points on the way to a 15-12 victory to take the match.
Bawibawi Thang led the Wabash offense with 23 kills and a .319 attack percentage. He also picked up a team-best 12 digs. Patrick Volk added 13 kills, and Zev Wolverton added 10 kills. Matthew Stitle recorded 23 assists. Will Beikes added 17 assists.
Wabash continues its MCVL weekend schedule with a match at Calvin College on Saturday at 1 p.m.
