CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. — Senior Myles Bernat scored a goal and had two assists to lead Wabash College to a 4-0 victory over Franklin College in the Little Giants' 2025 season opener Friday evening at Fischer Field.
Bernat gave the Little Giants (1-0) the lead in the 32nd minute with an unassisted goal and later assisted on Wabash's next two scores.
Angel Vazquez doubled the lead in the 60th minute off a Bernat pass. Less than 10 minutes later, Isaac Gomez recorded his first career goal on a play set up by Bernat and Danny Tkachuk. Danny Escobedo finished the scoring in the 89th minute off an assist from JD Branigan.
Wabash outshot Franklin 31-5, including an 11-1 advantage in shots on goal, and held a 12-0 edge in corner kicks.
Goalkeeper Ansel Rincon earned the shutout in his collegiate debut, making one save in 90 minutes. Franklin (0-1) split time in goal between Graham Klein and Jaime Silva, who combined for seven saves.
Wabash returns to action Sunday with a home match against Manchester University. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
