Wabash Falls 2-1 at Saint Vincent Despite Little Giants' Shot Advantage

LATROBE, Pa. – Wabash College outshot host Saint Vincent but came up short in a 2-1 loss Sunday afternoon at UPMC Field.

The Little Giants (3-2-0) fired 23 shots, including eight on goal, and held a 5-3 advantage in corner kicks. Saint Vincent (4-1-0) capitalized on its chances, however, scoring in each half to hand Wabash its second loss of the season while finishing its trip to the Pittsburgh area with a 1-1 record..

Iverson Agyei put the Bearcats ahead in the 38th minute with a goal assisted by Ben Bethke. Daniel Maddock doubled the lead early in the second half, scoring in the 58th minute off a feed from Jose Hurtado.

Wabash answered in the 76th minute when Ethan Simmons scored unassisted for his second goal of the season. The Little Giants pressed forward in the closing minutes, recording 11 second-half shots, but Saint Vincent goalkeeper Kameron Rock made seven saves to preserve the win.

Alfredo Campos led Wabash with five shots, including three on frame, while goalkeeper Ansel Rincon tallied four saves.

The Little Giants return home Wednesday to face Anderson University at 4 p.m. at Fischer Field.
