LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Sophomore Sam Vaught turned in an 11th-place finish Saturday to lead the Wabash College cross country team at the Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park.
Vaught completed the 8,000-meter Blue Race in 25 minutes, 31.1 seconds, averaging 5:08 per mile. He finished 26 seconds behind race winner Ander Vera Moleres of Converse, who crossed the line in 25:05.7.
Junior Johnathan Loney was the second Little Giant across the finish line, placing 71st overall out of 228 runners competing at the meet. Loney finished in 26:43.5 with a 5:22-per-mile pace. Freshman Cooper Knoblauch followed in 106th place with a time of 27:15.8, averaging 5:28 per mile.
Freshman Austin Baugh finished 153rd overall in 28:07.2, while classmate Raul Delgado completed Wabash's scoring five in 161st place at 28:17.0.
Wabash scored 438 points to place 18th among 23 scoring teams in the Blue Race. Trine won the team championship with 108 points, followed by Indianapolis with 140 and Converse with 167.
