CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa — The Wabash College tennis team closed a long Saturday on the courts with a decisive rebound, dropping a 6-1 decision to Coe College in its opener before responding with a 7-0 sweep of the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point at the Clark Racquet Center. The split moved the Little Giants to 2-3 on the season.
Wabash opened against Coe (4-1) and found itself in an early deficit after the Kohawks claimed two of three doubles matches. Jumpei Kasai and Bryton Short edged
Augusto Ghidini and
Rafael Rin 7-5 at number one doubles, and Daniel Rohlman and Anthony Schulte added a 6-3 victory over
Tharakesh Ashokar and
Cole Shifferly at number two doubles. The Little Giants earned their lone doubles point at number three, where
Vittorio Bona and
Murilo Guarniari secured a 6-4 win over Ivan Burt-Smith and Joshua Tiemann.
In singles, Coe captured five of six matches to seal the dual. Anthony Schulte defeated Rin 6-1, 6-2 at number one singles, and Joshua Tiemann earned a 6-4, 6-0 win over

The final two matches proved tightly contested. Kasai rebounded from a first-set loss to Ashokar to win 3-6, 7-5, 10-6 at number five singles, claiming the match in a super tiebreak. At number six singles, Grant Idoux edged Bona 6-2, 6-7, 11-9 in another match decided by a 10-point tiebreak as Coe secured the 6-1 victory.
The Little Giants showed little carryover from the earlier loss when they returned to the courts against UW-Stevens Point (4-5). Wabash swept doubles play to seize control of the match. Ghidini and Rin earned a 6-2 win at number one doubles over Dawson Froemming and Ayden Knuth. Ashokar and Shifferly dominated at number two doubles with a 6-0 victory over Anthony Janes and Augie Nelson.
Matthew Haas and

Wabash carried that momentum into singles competition, winning all six matches in straight sets. Shifferly defeated Froemming 6-3, 6-3 at number one singles. Rin followed with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Conner Kryscio at number two singles, and Ghidini posted a 6-1, 6-0 win against Janes in the third singles flight.
