Little Giants Blank Anderson 2-0 for Seventh Win

ANDERSON, Ind. — Wabash scored once in each half and held Anderson without a shot over the final 45 minutes Wednesday afternoon as the Little Giants earned a 2-0 nonconference victory at Fridley Field.

Wabash improved to 7-1 overall with the victory, while Anderson fell to 1-5. The Little Giants outshot the Ravens 8-2, placing six attempts on goal, and finished with a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Gavin Glackman provided the eventual game-winning goal with 46 seconds remaining in the first half. Ethan Simmons set up Glackman for his first goal of the season and a 1-0 Wabash lead at the break.

The Little Giants generated the majority of the scoring chances over the closing minutes of the opening period. Johan Arroyo, Simmons and Alfredo Campos each put shots on goal that Anderson goalkeeper Braydon Kennedy stopped before Glackman broke through in the 45th minute. Wabash goalkeeper Rafael Cordova made his only save of the match on a Cohen Wintin attempt in the 38th minute.

Bryce Kinnaman doubled the Wabash advantage in the 52nd minute with an unassisted goal. The score was Kinnaman's fifth of the season, matching his season-best effort of five goals as a freshman. Brady Reiter also put a shot on goal early in the second half before Kinnaman gave the Little Giants the 2-0 lead.

Wabash controlled play defensively from there, preventing Anderson from recording a shot in the second half. Cordova played all 90 minutes in goal and made one save to record the shutout. Kennedy finished with four saves for Anderson.

The Little Giants return home Saturday, Sept. 19, to face Augustana College at 4 p.m. at Fischer Field.
