The Wabash tennis team opened its week-long Spring Break trip to Puerto Rico with a 9-0 victory over the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez.
The Little Giants began with three doubles wins.
Wade Miller and Michael Makio posted an 8-6 victory at number one doubles, while
Mark Troiano and Graham McMullen scored an 8-3 win the second flight.
Nate Koelper and Mazin Hakim picked up an 8-1 win at third doubles.
Wabash took five singles matches on the court and received an injury default in the sixth to complete the sweep. Miller scored a straight sets 7-5, 6-0 win at number one singles. Troiano battled back from a loss in the first set of number three singles to record a 2-6, 7-6 (3), 10-8 victory. Koelper scored a 6-2, 6-2 win at number four singles. McMullen dominated his fifth singles flight by a score of 6-0, 6-0. Hakiim won a pro set at sixth singles 8-2. Makio received a victory due to an injury to his opponent.
The Little Giants improve to 5-8 overall and will face Haverford College Monday morning.
