The Wabash tennis team split a pair of Central Region matches Saturday in the Chicago-land area. The Little Giants lost a tight 5-4 outing against Wheaton College followed by a 9-0 sweep of Elmhurst.

The Little Giants, ranked 15
th in the Central Region, lost two of the three doubles matches to 17
th-ranked Wheaton (3-3) in the morning session.
Jordan Greenwell and
Michael Makio scored an 8-5 victory for the lone Wabash team point. Greenwell, the North Coast Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week, cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win at number four singles.
Nicholas Pollock won 6-3, 6-1 at number five singles.
Kirill Ivashchenko scored a 6-2, 6-2 victory at sixth singles.

Wabash swept all nine matches in the evening event against Elmhurst (0-7).
William Reifeis and
Patrick McAuley claimed an 8-2 win at number one singles. Makio and Greenwell combined for an 8-4 win in the second doubles flight. Ivashchenko joined with
Mazin Hakim to win 8-4 at third doubles.

Reifeis won in straight sets (7-6, 6-2) in the first singles flight. Makio captured the second singles flight with a 6-2, 6-1 victory. Greenwell remained undefeated on the day after a 6-3, 6-1 win at number three singles. McAuley won 6-1, 6-0 at number four singles, while Ivashchenko was nearly perfect with a 6-0, 6-1 win at sixth singles. Pollock held a 6-3 win in the first set at fifth singles before his opponent retired to give Wabash the win.
